WRAPPED ROCKS

These rock amulets are based on Japanese basketry knots and other basketry techniques. They may be purely decorative or used as a contemplative focus for meditation. Historically, amulets were sacred, precious and imbued with healing powers. Learn to decorate a rock with a variety of materials and a variety of decorative basketry knots & techniques.

INSTRUCTOR: Ann Newton. Anne Newton has been teaching textile and fibre based techniques to children and adults for more than 20 years.

THE MYSTERY OF THE MANDALA AND SYMBOLISM


mandalaMandalas are "painting like patterns" within the boundary of a circle. The outer border reflects the psychological boundary that separates us from the outer world or other persons, while the contents of the Mandala lead us onwards and inwards to the center – to the heart of our being. The mandala is a map of this journey depicted in the pattern, form, colour and shape - all of which are significant symbols to guide us to that inner core.

Karen Scott has a long history with the art of mandala and the language of symbolism.
Join her in a ‘hands on’ workshop discovering how symbolism plays a major role in self-awareness and discovery.
Karen has worked specifically with art for well-being, personal discovery and healing for 20 years and is widely travelled. She shares her extensive ‘art experience’ to support you through the creative process to access the language of our unconscious self.
